Dark spots
or melasma?
Different causes call for different treatment decisions.
Hyperpigmentation, brown spots or post-acne marks?
Hyperpigmentation describes skin that looks darker because of excess pigment. Flat marks after acne or irritation may be post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; other brown spots have different causes. PicoWay is an option for selected pigment concerns, not every mark. New, changing or unexplained spots need medical assessment first.
How is melasma different from other dark spots?
Melasma often appears as patches on the face and can be influenced by sun exposure and hormonal factors. It is a recurring condition, rather than a simple spot to erase. An assessment helps determine whether laser is appropriate or whether medical management should come first.
Is PicoWay pigmentation treatment suitable for darker skin?
Suitability depends on the pigment concern, wavelength, handpiece and skin assessment. Treatment of tattoos and facial pigmentation does not use one universal protocol. Darker skin can develop further darkening or lightening after laser; the expected benefits and risks must be reviewed first.
